Has anyone recently applied for Canadian visit visa? They say that Dallas consulate does not have visa service & LA is the option.

Could anyone please know
1) how is actual the online submission procedure?
2) did you send your original passport in mail along with return envelope?
3) how many days it took for you to receive your original passport (with the canadian visa stamped) from the day you mailed it to the consulate?

Another option: I heard that we can also apply in-person by visiting the consulate in LA. Has anyone tried this option? Will they issue the visa the same afternoon if you submit application in morning? could you share your experience?
