I stopped drinking coke and other soft drinks which contain phosphoric acid. Someone actually did an experiment where actual human tooth was dipped in coke for 24 hours and the tooth was found to be corroded to a considerable degree. I am not sure what the acid does once it enters your digestive system. But I bet it can't be good for you!

Sure the acidic nature of CocaCola or Pepsi can be detrimental to your teeth if you let it linger in your mouth for considerable amount of time, but once that liquid goes into your alimentary canal, it can do little harm in that effect. The digestive juice in your tummy is far more acidic.

The amount of sugar in your can of soda is what you should be concerned about. A 12 oz. can contains upward of 9 teaspoons of sugar. And USDA's recommended daily amount is only 12. Not to mention, sugar is found in almost all processed food nowadays.
